East Tapestry Room

The interior decoration of this room corresponds, down to the last detail, to its counterpart on the west side.

The fake tapestries, however, show scenes from Ovid’s Metamorphoses: "Diana and Endymion", "Boreas abducts Oreithyia, "Triumphal procession of Bacchus", and "Europe mounted on the bull". These are stories with which the poet celebrated the Golden Age, when the gods pursued their amorous adventures on earth.

The ceiling painting in this room, which faces east towards the sunrise, with its representations of Apollo and Aurora symbolizes the morning – by analogy to the West Tapestry Room, whose paintings symbolize the evening.
